COVID-19 Toolkit
In light of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) recently spreading in China and abroad, including Canada, Aspiria would like to share accurate information from legitimate sources to best educate our clients during this outbreak.
According to the Government of Canada, coronaviruses are a large family of viruses known to cause illness ranging from a common cold to more severe diseases, such as respiratory or kidney failure. Other known coronaviruses include Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
The first case of transmission for 2019-nCoV is believed to have occurred through animal-to-human transmission, with subsequent cases being confirmed as human-to-human transmission.
Coronavirus itself is not severe, but may cause rare instances of infections or fatalities, especially for vulnerable people, including the elderly and infants. In order to protect yourself, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the following:
- staying home when sick,
- avoiding close contact with others,
- covering one’s mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing; discarding used tissues,
- washing your hands, and
- regularly both cleaning and disinfecting objects and surfaces.
